When traveling you often can find yourself in that familiar conundrum of wondering where to go. Of course, many of us have our own little bucket lists to refer to but often, that can leave us uninspired if we haven’t really updated it with any new locations to visit. Asia is a vast continent filled with many vibrant places to visit, so I thought I would shine the spotlight on it and share with you five locations I think you should visit. I hope this give you some inspiration perhaps for your next trip or certain places to add to your bucket list.
Thailand is one location that is hugely popular with backpackers and tourists alike, and there is plenty to see and do so I thought I would share with you some of the places I think you should try and visit when you are next in Thailand.
There has to be a mention to the hustle and bustle city that is the capital of Thailand, Bangkok. The streets are filled with street food vendors and strange sightings that you possibly wouldn’t see anywhere else. It is vibrant and full of life, and certainly can be quite a cheap place to visit. Accomodation options vary from high rise luxury hotels to finding Condos for rent for reasonable prices. You will never be stuck of things to do and many people visit Bangkok as a first port of call before exploring some of the other locations on offer, which brings me nicely on to my next recommendation.
You might want to take a trip to some of the beautiful islands in and around the mainland of Thailand. Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are two of the most common islands. They both have amazing beaches and scenery as well as offering some amazing places to stay. It could really add a new dimension to your holiday.
Singapore is an island city state that is off the coast of Malaysia, and is one recognisable city. It has a real tropical climate which means the humidity can get a little too much at times, but it is also known as a place with huge multicultural influences. Many people move to Singapore from all corners of the world as it is seen as a financial hub for many different working industries.
Maybe you want to stay off the beaten track a little and try something different and indonesia is fast becoming the location of choice in Asia and this is because it gives you some great options. Amazing beach locations as well as a fantastic and vibrant city. Let’s first discuss the most popular and well known place in Indonesia.
Blai is well known fo some of the most beautiful beaches around as well as the varied terrain that volcanoes and settled forrest have given it. Bali is also home to some religious monuments and fabulous sights to see, which make it such a hugely popular place to holiday. More popular with Australians than perhaps people based in the West, but it is certainly becoming a location that sits on many bucket lists.
Jakarta is Indonesia capital city and is definitely one of those cities that you must see at some point in your life. There is such a big mix of cultures making this place extremely diverse when it comes to cultural influences on food, architecture and lifestyle. While it is the capital it is als the largest city in Indonesia. You could stay in local apartments or treat yourself to the many luxury hotels on offer in the city center. It is also a good starting point to travel to other place sin Indonesia or Asia.
The Gili Islands are perhaps not as well known as other parts of Indonesia, which makes it such a great place to see as it can be portrayed as being unspoilt and natural beauty spots as far as they eye can see. Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air are what they are called and they are fringed with Palm trees and have beautiful coral reefs that you can explore. They are not far off the coast of Lombok, another location in Indonesia that is perhaps not as well known, but is certainly one for the bucket list.
China might well already be on your bucket list and I can hazard a guess at two reasons as to why that might be true. The first reason possibly being the cuisine. Chinese food is so popular all over the world that why wouldn’t you want to go to the source of its origin and try out some authentic dishes. The other reason might be to walk the Great Wall Of China. A wonder of the world that can actually be seen from space, believe it or not. However, while you are here there are other things you can see and do to explore this amazing country.
Shanghai happens to be China’s biggest city and is also classed as the financial hub. The heart of the city is known as the bund, which is a famed waterfront promenade surrounded by buildings of different influences of architecture. The skyline is extremely recognisable thanks to the Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower which has distinctive pink spheres. It is definitely a place to see while in China.
Finally, the last place I would suggest in Asia would be Japan. It is possibly more well known for being the place where the future starts. Robots and technology seems to move along at a much faster rate here, and much of what we use today is manufactured in Japan. One of the best locations in Japan happens to be Tokyo. It is Japan’s capital and it mixes the ultra modern with traditional aspects making it a real vibrant place to visit.
I hope that this has given you some food for thought when it comes to visiting Asia and some of the places you could consider.
