Taking Tips From Travelers Who Do It Differently

When you vacation no more than once a year, the process becomes a real luxury. You save up a large sum throughout the year, all for that one blow out you can’t wait for. It’s an exciting feeling for sure, and we’ve all done this at least once in our lifetimes. Nothing’s quite this good for that wonderful ‘getting away’ feeling which never gets old. Once you arrive at your destination, you know that you can kick back and pamper yourself a little. Heck, you deserve it, right?

But, the truth couldn’t be more different for those of us who travel often, and often do so solo. Instead of seeing our time away as an excuse to splash the cash, us regulars do everything possible to keep things cheap. It makes sense when you consider that the majority of us go away far more than once a year. As such, this money saving is essential to sustain our lifestyles.

When you take a look at the differing details of holidays like these, it can seem as though they’re worlds apart. And, for the most part, they are. But, instead of sticking to opposite sides of the scale, nomads and luxury vacationers may have a fair amount to teach each other. Before you throw your hands up in disbelief, read on to find out just what that might be.

You don’t need to pay those excessive bag fees

The first lesson comes from the nomads, and it’s one which is always important to bear in mind. People who don’t vacation all that often fall into the trap of packing far too much. After all, they have no real way of knowing how much they’ll need. They don’t do this enough to get the hang of amounts, outfits, and so on. Which is why so many people get caught paying excessive bag fees, BOTH WAYS! As can be seen from sites like http://time.com, that can soon add up. Some are more expensive than others, but most of the prices are pretty steep.

Frankly, it’s daylight robbery, but that’s another issue. The lesson to learn here is that it’s actually unnecessary. When you buy an airline ticket, you get a free hand luggage entitlement. And, when you take a look at the sizings of said hand luggage, it should be more than enough to suffice. Come on; us nomads often manage to survive out of one rucksack for who knows how long. But, you don’t even need to do that. In fact, you may find that your hand luggage can weigh much the same as your suitcase would. So, don’t get caught out.

A little luxury doesn’t mean you’re selling out

Of course, the nomads can also learn a little from the infrequent travelers’ outlook. And, the first lesson is that a little luxury doesn’t mean compromising your vacation. Be honest, nomads; how often do you feel as though slumming it gets you closer to the culture? Nothing beats getting up close and personal in a hostel. Or, does it? In truth, a step back from hostel living reveals it isn’t always the best way to experience a country. Most of the people staying there are likely on vacation too, so you can scrap the ‘locals’ idea. On top of which, many hostels don’t exactly come with a view. So, you can’t even argue that this way of staying helps you see a more authentic side of your chosen country.

By comparison, luxury condos like those found on christophercolumbuscondos.com/ provide a whole new view of a country. With private beach fronts and striking views, options like these are a sure way to see the beauty of any destination. They certainly provide a better view than a hostel would, anyway.

There are ways to save without compromising

Many holidaymakers splash the cash because they refuse to compromise when on vacation. It’s a fair enough argument. After all, you’ve worked hard for this time. But, any nomad will tell you that there are easy ways to save without compromising. Namely, finding small local restaurants is sure to set you back less than tourist options. Even better, authentic local food can really enhance your experience.

If it’s an option, it can also be worth buying food and cooking in your accommodation on some nights. You may think this sounds a little like compromising. But, never underestimate the odd night off during your time away. After a few nights of eating out, you’re sure to appreciate a little home cooking. And, you can save in a significant way by doing this. What’s more, it can sometimes be especially relaxing to just stay in while you’re away. Who said you have to go out each night to make the most of the experience?

There’s something said for eating out sometimes

And, the last word goes to the irregular travelers, who would argue that there is value in eating out sometimes. When you travel often, the appeal of exploring local restaurants can leave sharpish. All you want to do at the end of a long day of exploring is close the door behind you and cook up something fast. But, it’s important to remember that there’s a lot to be learnt from local cooking. You’ll miss out on that if you don’t make time sometimes. Not to mention that eating locally is a fantastic chance to make new friends.

So, head to sites like theguardian.com, and remind yourself how to find the best local cuisine. Then, make an effort to eat out at least once every three days next time you go away. As mentioned above, choosing local dining will help to keep costs down. And, you’ll soon fall in love with the process again. Nothing makes you feel more at home in a new country than sitting in a crowded restaurant. Being around so much hustle and bustle can also be a huge help when it comes to your understanding of local languages. So, get back out there!
