Ever since my semester abroad in Mexico my junior year of college, I knew I wanted to make travel my livelihood. My first job after graduating was at an ecolodge in Guatemala, volunteering in exchange for room and board.
I completed a master’s degree program in Tourism and Environmental Economics in June of 2010 from the University of the Balearic Islands in Spain. Since then, I’ve worked with a locally-based tour operators in Albania and Ethiopia, a handful of internet-based travel tech startups, a voluntourism non-profit in Bolivia, and a boutique US-based tour operator in Denver, CO on a number of business development projects.
On the side, I pursue freelance travel writing and blogging. I also teach an online course on tourism development for a continuing education certificate program. Offline, I’m out exploring the Rocky Mountains in my home state of Colorado on foot, road bike, snowshoes, or skis … and, as always, scheming up my next big trip.
